My Journey as a Nurse Case Manager
Join me as I navigate the world of case management, fighting for resources and battling insurance in a hospital setting.
I have been working as a nurse for over a decade, starting my journey in 2009. Throughout my career, I have predominantly worked in the intense and demanding environment of the ICU. However, I later explored different areas of healthcare, including various float pools, travel settings, and even took on some leadership roles. Additionally, I gained experience in home health, providing care to patients in the comfort of their own homes. Up until recently, I was fortunate enough to avoid the complexities of paperwork and insurance issues, as they never directly impacted my work. However, my perspective has drastically changed since becoming a case manager. This new role has opened my eyes to a whole new world of frustration, but also occasional moments of triumph.
I have been working as a nurse case manager for a few months now, and I am starting to feel more at ease in this role. It is a challenging and often misunderstood profession, and I believe it is important to document my experiences as I continue to grow in this field. This platform will serve as a space for me to share my insights and knowledge with others who may not fully understand the intricacies of being a nurse case manager. I am excited to share my journey and contribute to a better understanding of this world.
